Total Locates Source of Offshore Gas Leak

Total has found the source off the offshore oil platform gas leak in the North Sea. The energy giant has confirmed that the leak is not underwater, but is instead located on the deck level of the well head platform. Total was forced to evacuate the Elgin rig after the Sunday leak began.

The decision now is whether it’s possible to wait for the gas to stop leaking on its own or if a relief well must be drilled. They also have the option to fill it with mud in a kill operation, according to CNN. The leak is believed to have started as workers were sealing the well in...

Somali Pirates Ask For Nearly $3Mil Ransom To Free Ship & 23 Crew

Somali pirates have been holding the MV Albedo captive for over a year. A Pakistani negotiator for the Malaysian-owned vessel now claims he has reached an agreement to free the crew in exchange for a nearly $3 million ransom.

The negotiator can ensure the freedom of the 23 captured crewmen after a ransom payment of $2.85 million per their agreement. As he did not confirm who exactly is providing the money, he did say it will be delivered via plane by April 20 to the kidnappers.
