Port Tracker: Six Percent Drop Now Projected for 2008 Retail Container Traffic

Cargo volume at the nation's major retail container ports is now expected to decline 6 percent in 2008 compared with 2007 as the nation's slow economy continues to prompt merchants to carefully manage their inventories, according to the monthly Port Tracker report released today by the National Retail Federation and Global Insight.

Moore Stevens Asks: Is the UK insurance industry treating its customers fairly?

A survey of levels of preparedness on the part of UK insurers and intermediaries for the new FSA regulations on Treating Customers Fairly has revealed that less than half of respondents say that all their staff are aware of TCF and what the FSA is trying to achieve. Moreover, the survey, by leading accountant and business consultant Moore Stephens, shows that 40 per cent of insurers have not yet incorporated TCF into their business strategy, and only 50 per cent of respondents overall are "extremely confident" of meeting the FSA's year-end 2008 deadline for compliance.
