ABS Makes Gift of $3,060,000.00 to Massachusetts Maritime Academy

The Trustees of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy are pleased to announce a gift of over $3,000,000.00 from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) to name the proposed new library at the college The American Bureau of Shipping Information Commons. This donation is the largest single gift in the Academy's 117 year history – in fact it is the largest single corporate contribution to any public college in Massachusetts.

RINA Launches New GREEN PLUS Class Notation

ITALY-based classification society RINA has further strengthened its commitment to environmentally friendly shipping by launching a new goal-based class notation, GREEN PLUS. The voluntary notation will be based on an environmental performance index which covers all aspects of the vessel's impact on the environment, including carbon emissions.
