| A Greek-owned container ship, carrying jet fuel, collided with a German-owned container ship Tuesday in the North Sea, 20 miles off the Dutch Coast. The tanker, MINDORO, was damaged causing jet fuel to leak into the sea, and slick was spotted on the surface around the ship. Crew onboard was able to pump the leaking fuel back into an undamaged area of the ship putting a stop to the leak. Officials say they are unsure of how much jet fuel leaked but that offshore winds were blowing the slick away from the Dutch coast and oil spill control vessels were en route to the area. The 79-year-old British man was reported missing by his wife early Monday morning, while the ship was cruising through the English Channel off the French coast. French Coast Guard was notified at 9:30 a.m. and spent all of Monday searching with no success. Late Monday as the sun set the search was called off. The Balmoral was returning to England after a 21-day Adriatic cruise. The ship arrived in Dover at 7 a.m. Tuesday where a full investigation by the Kent Police Department has been launched. Traveling at 5 knots the Liberian-flagged Grande Rodosi crashed into the side of the 47-meter APOLLO fishing vessel, crushing its port side. The Australian Marine Safety Authority has detained the container ship while the Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigates. The 700-ton Apollo sunk in just 30 minutes while the Grand Rodosi suffered a meter long gash in its hull.
