Dock Worker Trapped in Container with Dead Co-Worker for Nine Days

A Bangladeshi man is recovering in a Singapore hospital after being trapped in a container for nine days and shipped to Singapore with the corpse of his co-worker.

Officials at Singapore’s Pasir Panjang Terminal discovered Din Islam, 30, on Sunday inside a container. The Chittagong port worker was next to another man who was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics.

Singapore police believe that the two men were taking a rest inside the container when they became trapped inside.

Din Islam told investigators that he and his co-worker entered the container to take a nap during their 12-hour night shift on April 1st. He said, they were asleep and didn’t know the container had been put on ship. Without food or water the two were shipped to Singapore onboard a container vessel.

Officials say the deceased man, believed to be around 40 years old, died after...

Pirates Release German Ship, Remaining Crew Returns Home

The Antigua and Barbuda flagged BELUGA NOMINATION has finally been released from pirate control, after being hijacked on January 22.

On the day of the attack, the ship’s crew of 12 sent out distress signals, locked themselves in the citadel and steered towards the Seychelles in hopes of being rescued. A rescue vessel from the Seychelles coast guard took 72 hours to arrive and failed to take control of the vessel. Eventually the pirates cut into the citadel and captured the crew.

Turmoil aboard the multipurpose heavy-lift project carrier made headlines in early February when owner, Beluga Shipping, reported that one crew member had been shot dead and four others had escaped to the open sea in a lifeboat. Only two of the four were found and rescued by the Danish frigate Esbern Snare. Seven crewmembers, including the ship’s master continued to be held captive until the vessel...

Video: HMAS Adelaide Scuttled off Australian Coast

The Australian Navy scuttled the decommissioned, 33 year old HMAS Adelaide on Wednesday, in front of more than 10,000 onlookers.

The frigate, sunk near Avoca beach, had been a sore subject for several environmental groups. Despite multiple objections the courts approved the ships sinking, but under the condition that it be thoroughly decontaminated first.  This wasn't enough for environmental groups, who say they fear the lead paint is a pollution risk and that the wreck will add to beach erosion.

Government officials say the new artificial reef created by yesterday’s sinking will generate millions of dollars in revenue for the New South Wales state.

Sixteen separate explosions blasted through he hull of the ship as fireworks erupted overhead. In just two minutes the ship disappeared under the surface.

The scuttling was delayed by nearly an hour when a pod of curious...
